Laser Acupuncture

Laser acupuncture is a mix between ancient knowledge and modern knowledge where their objective is to heal and improve people's health in a non-evasive way.

Laser acupuncture is an effective alternative to traditional acupuncture. It is recommended for children and for anyone who is afraid of needles (Goel 2016).

Laser acupuncture practically consists in using a low-level laser beam that is focused on an acupuncture point for ten seconds to one minute. Therefore, this treatment uses a low-level laser beam instead of an acupuncture needle in order to stimulate an acupuncture point and destroy any blockage of the Qi, our life force. This will cause your body to return to balance. There is no pain and no harm to the skin or tissue (Goel 2016).

The time of the treatment is relatively fast compared to traditional acupuncture because in traditional acupuncture you have to stay with the needles for about 30 minutes. During those 30 minutes, you will feel calm and relaxed. However, in laser acupuncture, you don’t have to wait that long. The practitioner only focuses on the acupuncture point that is necessary for about ten to 1 minutes and that is it. You won’t have to wait 30 minutes. The laser treatment will last about 20 minutes. Nevertheless, this treatment is equal to acupuncture treatment, but this treatment has proven to be better than acupuncture in some case because nowadays many people are afraid of needles (Baxter 2008).

However, I think that traditional acupuncture is better since it is an exciting treatment, where you will be able to feel relaxed and throw away all your worries. Also, many patients experiment a sort of an electrical current which is the Qi, and it is an amazing experience.

Safety considerations:

Even though it is low-level laser it should never be used near the eyes (Baxter 2008).
